Indian Farm Box CSA
These vegetables are harvested weeks earlier before the vegetables have reached their prime so that they can last the long journey.
This generally causes a lack of taste. Moreover, the hybrid seed varieties are selected for durability at the expense of flavor. The treatments mandated to kill pests can further degrade flavor or texture. It might seem logical that older produce is also less nutritious and lasts less. It also spoils easier and earlier due to the preservation techniques used.
The larger problem is of the use of fertilizers and pesticides in growing these vegetables in large scale commercial farms. Studies after studies have shown the harmful health effects on us and our family.
None of the Indian Vegetables available in Indian Grocery Stores are Organic. All imported vegetables need to be either fumigated or irradiated for US Customs, both of which are not allowed in Organic standards.
Understanding this problem, we at Gopal Farm have selected heirloom (ancient) seed varieties directly from farmers in India with a focus on taste and originality.
Then we grow them in our NY farm using better than Organic practices. We use a combination of ancient Indian Agriculture techniques as well as modern implements and knowledge.
These vegetables are then picked when they are just ripe, largely only a day before they are delivered to you (you could even come and pick them up yourself!).
Previous year's CSA box receivers consistently list taste and nutrition as the most important reason to continue to source their weekly Indian Vegetables from us. Second is for children's health by sourcing their Organic Indian vegetables from a local farm. This year due to your feedback we are starting home deliveries for ease.
The Indian Farm Box share consists of the following assorted Farm fresh Organic Vegetables (as per availability) for a family of four. You are able to Customize what you need.

Milk Products - We are hoping to have A2/A2 organic raw milk available for sale at the Farm Store during late summer. But due to NY regulations, we cannot ship it out of the farm. Those who can purchase Raw milk by coming to the farm, may subscribe to it separately and pick up at the farm, depending on availability. Those who wish the milk to be shipped to them weekly will need to wait till we install a Vat pasteurizer, and then the milk can also be shipped in a box.
Pick-Up/Delivery: We ship your CSA Box share directly to your home for a nominal $7 each week. Or you could come with your family to the farm, have a picnic, learn about farming, and pick up your farm box yourself for no shipping cost. New York City residents could pick up from our Friday booth @Union Square Farmers Market.
Cost: $50 per box share per week when one has signed up for the season (pre-pay). The quantity will be enough for a family of 4.

The Summer'19 season is expected to be for 20 weeks between July 1st and Nov 11th but we are dependent on the weather.

For non-Sign-up: $60 a box with whatever remaining vegetables after subscription boxes have been filled up. This option will be available during the season, upon availability.
We should be able to extend the season through the winter (Winter '19 season) for a limited number of boxes as we are in the process of building geothermally heated greenhouses. Further information on this shall be available in the Fall.
